Assistant in Nursing (AIN) (NSW)
An Assistant in Nursing (AIN) provides support to Registered Nurses (RNs) and Enrolled Nurses (ENs) in delivering safe, person-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
Assist patients/residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing,
dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.
•Support mobility and transfers using appropriate manual handling techniques.
•Monitor and report changes in patients’ condition to the supervising RN/EN.
•Measure and record vital signs (as delegated).
•Assist with basic clinical tasks such as wound care support and specimen collection
(within scope).
•Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for patients/residents.
•Provide emotional support and promote dignity, respect, and independence.
•Follow infection control, workplace health & safety, and organisational policies.
•Accurately document care provided as required.
•Collaborate effectively with the healthcare team.
Qualifications
Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Disability or equivalent) or Certificate IV),
depending on employer requirements.
•Current National Police Check.
•Valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) (if required).
•NDIS Worker Screening Check (if working in disability/NDIS settings).
•Current First Aid and CPR certification.
•Manual Handling training (required).
